Frequently Asked Questions
You probably have more questions about our kennel. We tried to bundle a couple of questions we often meet. If you haven't received a response, please browse our site again!
General
-When is the nearest litter expected?
Our breeding program is based on quality. As such, we take very few puppies up to 1-2 litters per year. Our breeding bitches bear maximum twice throughout their lives. This way we can focus on our crouching puppies and give them time, attention and love. You can find the planned pairing in the "Puppies for sale" menu. -What's the price for a Luxury Guards puppy? There are no two same quality puppies in a litter. There will be puppies suitable for exhibitions and breeding, hobby and serious work potential in a litter. As a result, the price of puppies may vary. You should know that Luxury Guards never breed for money making. If you feel you can only have financial reasons to buy a puppy from us, but you would be able to provide the highest quality of living for your puppy, don't hesitate to fill out the "Puppy Application Form" and we will try to find a solution to your problem. -Why are the hobby quality puppies cheaper? Hobby dogs are always the most important in a culture because we know that they will be family members of a family and will spend the next 10-13 years in the best possible place. Hobby dogs are the heart of our kennel, so they should be especially healthy and have good temperament. They are simply cheaper because, for some banal reason, they are not suitable for breeding. What do we mean by this? For example, if a dog is too large or lighter than average, it no longer meets the requirements of the breeding. They are no worse than his brothers just simply not suitable for breeding. |
-Why does the Luxury Guards kennel give next to the puppies?
No matter where the kid is going, they get the full vaccination and parasitic eradication program.
No matter the purpose for which the puppy is bought, the FCI pedigree, contract and invoice always accompany it.
All puppies are accompanied by a 24-month health guarantee and a lifetime breeding guarantee. We provide breeder support to all hosts, which means that owners can contact us at any time with any problem. Our puppies are accompanied by our friendship -if only from the background-, but we can help our dogs to succeed together. In the "Puppy Support" menu, you will find out more about all the other benefits.

-Is it possible to ship the puppy?
Yes, it can be solved. We are in contact with professional dog shippers who can ensure that puppies travel both domestically and abroad. The shipping cost is not included in the price of the puppies! The cost of shipping depends on the method of delivery and the destination. We need to ask for a separate quote for this. If we don't have the opportunity to meet you personally, then please give us the opportunity to get to know you. We'd love to take a webcamera to drive you around in your house to see where our dog is going.

Feed
-How do I feed my dog?
We think BARF and granulate feeding are both feasible. Before you start BARF you should get information and experience. Luxury Guards kennel dogs are on BARF diet.
Feeding with granulates is also fully appropriate, and it is advisable for the puppy to choose low protein, but mainly animal preotein based food. There is a huge selection of better food on the market, we recommend that you feed on your own experience. This means that there are no miracle foods, nor are they that work for every dog. The food that works for your dog is the best food!
-What supplements do I give to the dog?
Beside food, we recommend MSM containing joint protection until the age of 1.5 years (eg Noroflex Joint Health).
In addition to BARF, we highly recommend spirulina algae, fish or linseed oil, brown algae and rosehip powder.

Health
-How can I prevent stomach twist?
Your dog will always receive the daily dose in two doses - morning and evening, preferably at the same time. This avoids the burden on the stomach of large amounts of food at the same time. In the hours after feeding, it is advisable to take the water out of it, so you can reduce the content and weight of your dog's stomach.
Do not move the dog for two hours after feeding! You should be accustomed to having a rest after eating as a kid.
Unfortunately, stomach twist can only be prevented by 100% stomach upset. This is a routine surgery that is in great demand in Western Europe.
-How do I educate my dog to avoid hip dysplasia?
Hip dysplasia is 50% hereditary and 50% influenced by housing conditions. Dogs of the Luxury Guards kennel are screened for dysplasia and are free from the disease. Dysplasia of the housing conditions is either caused by inadequate movement or defective feeding.
Large breed puppies should always be kept thin! You should choose a feed that does not contain excessive protein. It is advisable to supplement the feed with joints.
Another common mistake is inappropriate movement. The puppy is not recommended to run until 1.5 years of age, to climb stairs, to pull weight, or to carry any other burdensome movement.
-How do we defend against parasites?
The use of broad-spectrum wormwood tablets is recommended every three months against internal parasites. For dogs fed with BARF, you can safely wipe off every two months.
We recommend using spot-on products against external parasites. It is advisable to exchange spot-on products to avoid parasites becoming resistant to certain ingredients.
We do not support and recommend the use of oral tablets.

Sport
-What can we sport together with my dog?
Both Cane Corso and Ca de Bou are suitable for guarding, weightlifting and, of course, exhibitions. It is worth trying all three activities and targeting the puppy in that direction. -When can I start the dog to get used to activites? To dogshows the puppy can enter from the age of 3 months (baby class). Guardian defense requires basic obedience, so it's worth to visit the dog school from the puppy's age to prepare the dog for future challenges. Weight lifting is forbidden under 1.5 years! But then how can you get prepare? The puppy can be accustomed to the harness, the chain, and smaller weights (eg water bottles) from an early age. Listen to the gradual, you can ruin the puppy's joints for a lifetime if you overload it! The workouts are mostly accustomed. |
Education
-What can I teach to my puppy?
Cane Corso and Ca de Bou are also very intelligent, so you can teach them almost anything. The key is consistent education, endurance and patience. The simplest motivation is, of course, the reward food. For this purpose, it is recommended to use a swallow bite, for example meat or cheese.
If for some reason you do not want to motivate with a reward, you may want to try using a clicker.
Motivate every dog very nicely if the teaching ends with success! Never end your teaching by asking the dog for something that cannot be done steadily!
-The puppy does not eat what I put it in front of him, what should I do?
It is a very common problem. Be consistent! You're the boss, not the dog decides when to eat! Take the breakfast away if he does not eat it within 10 minutes. Repeat until he will eat it. In 1-2 days the puppy get used to having to eat when there is food not when he wants.
-How do I discipline the puppy?
The use of physical violence in dog discipline is strictly forbidden and dangerous! The key is patience and consistency! Cane Corso will never forget, so a beat will most likely go back to the desired result and lose your dog's respect and authority. It is advisable to use tools that would be used by the other members of the dog pack.
